As preseason gets underway, the Blues took one last look back at the memorable 2025 season during the club’s annual Awards Night. Hosted by our new 2026 sponsor, Something in the Water Brewing Co., the evening celebrated contribution, improvement, and performance across the season.
With the theme “Shine Bright Like a Diamond,” attendees embraced sequins, glittery tops, and sparkling outfits, and Bruce stole the show in a bright blue sequin suit jacket.

A dynamic duo of fresh talent and seaoned pro, both speeding ahead with incredible progress. Ash showed significant growth after returning mid-season, with improved confidence and game awareness. Krista fully committed to footy in 2025, and her consistency and development reflected that dedication.
Rookie of the Year: Josephine
Awarded to a first-year player who demonstrated commitment to training, a team-first attitude, and strong game-day effort. Josephine consistently showed up ready to learn and contribute, set a high standard for effort throughout her first season, and crushed it on game days.

Top Defender: Vera
Established in 2014, this award recognises the often unseen work of defending space, reading the play, and shutting down opposition attacks. Vera’s positioning, footy knowledge, and reliability made her a key part of the defensive unit throughout the season.

Leading Goal Kicker: Katt
Awarded to the player who scored the most goals across the season. She amazingly scored all her goals (including a hat trick) in the midfield.

With a three-way tie for runner-up, this year would’ve been a hot competition if they hadn’t limited themselves to 1-2 games each. Next season is looking good!
Best & Fairest: Josephine
Voted by players after each game, this award reflects peer recognition for consistent impact and effort. Our rockstar midfielder is Josephine. Always on the move and assertive on the field, she linked defence and attack while maintaining a high work rate throughout the year.

Fifth Quarter Cup: Mascot
A long-standing club tradition recognising the spirit of the fifth quarter and the player who leads the charge. Footy is about the community spirit, not just the scoreboard.

Awards Night also celebrated two important milestones, with Katt and Woz both reaching their 25-game milestones in the AFLO. It took nearly a decade for these two veterans to get there which is honestly impressive and slightly shocking due to time away from the game... injuries, surgeries, pregnancy, and a pre-emptive retirement. Both began their footy journeys in Australia in 2010 and 2011, and the experience they bring continues to be a huge asset to the Blues.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the 2025 season — players, coaches, supporters, sponsors (Portia Physio, Boob Protect, and StriveFit), and volunteers. Your commitment keeps the club moving forward.
Massive appreciation for our Awards Night partners: Othership, Strong Pilates Liberty Village, Impact Kitchen, and Something in the Water Brewing Company.
