Blues Shine at 2025 AFL Ontario Awards Night
The AFL Ontario Annual Awards Gala lit up Saturday, August 23rd, as clubs from across the league gathered at the Pilot in Yorkville to celebrate the close of the 2025 regular season. For the Blues, it was a night full of recognition, excitement, and a glimpse of the strong future the club is continuing to build.
This season welcomed a wave of new recruits and rookies who embraced footy with enthusiasm — learning the game, taking on the chaos of Aussie rules, and rapidly developing their skills. Their hard work showed, with several Blues earning league honours and claiming spots in the 2025 All Ontario Team.
Club leadership stood out, with Bruce Parker named Umpire of the Year. On-field, Coach Katt finished third in the Best and Fairest count and earned selection on the wing for the All Ontario Team. Coach Woz was recognised for helping develop fourteen rookies and was selected as Assistant Coach for the team of the year. Rising star Jacqueline secured a place at Centre Half Forward, while Josephine, our Rookie of the Year nominee, claimed a well-deserved interchange spot.
After the award presentations, the Blues made their presence known too — arguably taking out best party vibes by filling the dance floor, leading line dances, and getting the room singing along to karaoke classics.
With the regular season wrapped and a narrow miss on a top-three finish, the Blues head into the elimination final hungry to show just how far they’ve come — and ready to build even bigger momentum into next year.
Thinking about playing in 2026 with a supportive coaching staff and club culture that celebrates both winning and fun? The Blues are always excited to welcome fresh faces. Reach out and see what being a Blue is all about!
