What a whirlwind season it has been for the Central Blues! As we close the chapter on this year's journey, it’s time to reflect on the highs, challenges, and incredible spirit of our club. This past year has tested us, united us, and ultimately propelled us to glory.
This season was not without its hurdles. We balanced footy with life’s unexpected twists—new babies, pregnancies, breakups, surgeries, job changes, and even national debuts! Through it all, we leaned on each other, demonstrating that our love for the game and camaraderie can overcome any obstacle. And rise we did, capturing the coveted cup!
- Woz made a triumphant return from ACL surgery.
- Katt snuck into the Grand Final just eight weeks postpartum.
A heartfelt thank you to the Ottawa Swans, who provided our players a home this season and reignited our passion for the game. Their transformation from wooden spoon holders to champions in record time is an inspiration to all.
- 5 National Athletes: Shoutout to our five athletes who represented us on the national stage, with Nicole and Braedy making their debuts. We couldn't be prouder!
- 2 National Coaches: It was an honor for our Blues men Sean and Obi to coach their first international tournament right here on our home soil! Their dedication to the national program is inspiring.
- 12 Matches: Our competitive spirit shone through in 12 intense matches, featuring tournaments in Ottawa and Montreal, as supporting fellow AFLO clubs with numbers.
- 35 Practices: We dedicated nearly 2,010 minutes honing our skills from January to September. Every second spent on the field brought us closer to excellence.
- 1 Broken Bridge: We faced the challenge of a closed bridge that added 6 km to our commute for over five months -- extra fitness for those who bike to the fields. If we can navigate that, we can conquer anything!
- 2 New Players: With one strong Canadian and one fierce Australian joining our squad, we’re ready to surprise our opponents next season!
- 25 Auskick Registrations: Our commitment to nurturing future stars saw Bruce hosting 36 sessions across the fall, winter, and spring. It’s heartwarming to see his coaching shape the next generation of footy enthusiasts.
- 2 Blues Babies: For the third consecutive year, our long-term recruiting strategy continues to thrive.
