The relationship between the Blues and the Jillaroos and Jackaroos from Columbus continues on as the Jillaroos paid a trip up to Toronto. The Jillaroos have spent the season heavily recruiting players and have been running a non-contact, coed league to get game time in. The Blues and Jillaroos met earlier on in May for a pre-season match and this latest face off serves as the Jillaroos´final game before US nationals next week.
12 excited and determined Jillaroos arrived in Toronto and suited up for a brisk fall game down at Humber South. The match started off with the Blues slotting some quick goals and creating a comfortable lead. The Jillaroos warmed up quickly and came back hard in the second quarter. They showed a lot more pressure and voice – great work, especially from their first time players. Half time score was 9.5.59 for the Blues and 0.2.2 for the Jills. The second half was a closer game and the Blues had to clean up their style of play a bit after some lucky breaks. After all the hard running and building momentum of the game, it ended all too soon with a win for the Blues.
It was a great match and a great day overall. Everyone was in high spirits after the game. It is always a pleasure to play against the Jillaroos and we wish them luck at US Nationals. 6 Blues players will be attending US Nationals as well and we hope for many fantastic games that weekend!
Final Score
Blues 11.7.73
Jillaroos 3.4.22
