Location and schedule
Pre-season practices typically start in January, and our main season
typically runs from late May to the end of September (no long weekends
and several bye weeks). Historically practice locations include Lamport
Stadium, Christie Pits, Bickford Park, Coronation Park, Cherry Beach,
and other central locations.
The majority of our matches are at
Colonel Samuel Smith Park; away games are down the road to Hamilton and
an adventure out to Ottawa. While Etobicoke may sound far, its TTC
accessible and carpooling is available (some folks even bike the 11
km!). It's also the home ground for all Toronto-based clubs giving each
weekend a carnival-like vibe. We make a day of it and assist the other
clubs while enjoying the sunshine. Summertime also travel opportunities
with exhibition tournaments in Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, Western
Canada, and the United States.
Costs
Recruits can typically try a couple practices and games before paying dues. Fees vary from season to season due to changes in costs of insurance and operational costs (field permits, umpires, etc), but generally will be in the range of $250 to $350 (for ten months worth of activities!). Fees are also split between pre-season and the summer league so you can pay in installments.
Some folks are social members and only practice with us (and don’t participate in games) which can help reduce costs. We’re open to everyone and just want to share our love of the sport.
